Autism is the malfunctioning of the brain in children in the first few years due to a neurological disorder. This condition makes it difficult for children to interact socially. Autism patients also have difficulty communicating, playing and working with other people.

What are the causes of Autism?

Some believe that autism in children is caused due to exposure to mercury from various vaccinations or even while in the womb.

Some feel there is no connection between mercury and autism. they believe it is due to the malformed structure of the brain, due to either genetic factors or even some viral infections or environmental conditions. Scientists are investigating various possibilities, but the fact is there no single authentic proof of the cause of autism.

Can Chelation Therapy Cure Autism?

Mercury chelation therapy claims to remove mercury from the body thus increasing the chances of curing autism. But there is no scientific evidence that this has been successful in treating autism. The medical world believes that autism is not curable. Thus, anxious and frustrated parents wanting to cure their child may get tempted to try chelation therapy for treating autism. It must be noted that Chelation therapy has some side effects that may affect the kidneys and liver. Before you seek any alternative therapy for autism, it is best to check with your family doctor on what treatment would be most effective for your child.
