Causes Of Popping Sound On Knee
Hearing a knee popping sound every now and then is normal. The knee popping sound no pain is due to joint movements and nothing serious. However, when the popping sound is accompanied with pain and discomfort, this could be due to the following causes:
- Acute knee injuries due to a bad fall, forced twisting of the knee, or sudden blow on the knee.
- Injury in the anterior cruciate ligament.
- Tearing of the ligament.
- Medical conditions such as arthritis or osteoporosis.
- Worn ligament due to over exertion.
- Torn knee cartilage.
- Ruptured tendons.
- Knee fracture.
- Muscle strains.
Home Remedies For Knee Popping Sound With Pain
- Apply some recommended exercises to strengthen your knees.
- Lose weight to shed off excess weight since your excess weight can cause strain on your knee muscles and joints.
- Avoid wearing high-heeled shoes or at least let your feet rest every now and then when wearing elevated shoes is inevitable.
- Wear comfortable and appropriate shoes for your activities. Use running shoes for running and walking shoes when you intend to do extensive walking.
- Avoid using over worn shoes. Replace your shoes at least every six months to ensure optimum feet and knee protection.
- Avoid kneeling on hard surfaces.
- When you feel like your knees are aching while in the middle of exercise, take a rest.
- Avoid overusing your knees and feet.
