Remedies for Pain and Swelling in Neck and Shoulders:
The neck and shoulders are two of the parts of the body that have plenty of nerves bundled to each other. As a result, the area commonly suffers from different ailments. Due to the proximity of various bones, nerves, arteries, and veins, these parts of the body become easily affected due to motion and possible infection.
There are various reasons that may cause pain and swelling in the neck and shoulders. - Due to a torn ligament connecting the collarbone and shoulder blade. The ligament may become torn due to trauma.
- Due to injury to the rotator cuff. This is common among those who do a lot of throwing or similar motion. Among athletes, those who are most prone to it are baseball pitchers.
- Due to a broken shoulder blade.
- Due to a heart attack.
Treatments for Neck and Shoulders Pain:
The best treatment for such condition is to rest. Rest is perhaps what the affected part is craving and the lack of it, especially after prolonged use, can cause pain.
Another way to treat neck and shoulder pain is to apply cold compress on the affected area. This is done by wrapping a piece of ice in cloth and then leaving it on the affected part. The cold will allow the pain to subside. In order to reduce the pain especially when sleeping, place the affected area higher than the heart by placing an extra pillow beneath the shoulders and neck.

When putting ice on the injury, don’t leave it on longer than 15 minutes at a time. Be sure that the cold compress a layer between the ice and skin. Neck pain can also be coming from the jaw.
