Answer:
Cervical spondylosis is a degenerative condition of the cervical spine.

It usually occurs in the age group of 50years and above, but occurs earlier in persons pursuing the ‘white-collar’ job. Prolonged hours at the computer or the laptop, work stress, hectic schedules, poor sleep and deficient dietary intake all contribute to the disorder.

Symptoms of cervical spondylosis:

  • Pain in the nape of the neck and shoulders, radiating down to the arms and fingers
  • Stiffness
  • Occasional tingling numbness
  • Giddiness

Cervical spondylosis undergoes periods of spontaneous remissions and exacerbations. A stressful condition triggers an attack during the period of remission. So stress management is crucial.

Cervical Spondylosis Treatment:

  • A proper neck posture is of utmost essence.
Avoid sitting in positions where you have the keep the neck in 1 position for too long a period.
  • At work, it is necessary to take a break from the keyboard every hour. Rotatory neck exercises are the easiest, quickest, and most beneficial means to obtain relief.
  • There are innumerable yoga asanas and pranayama techniques for spine correction. They improve flexibility and restore function.
  • Use a thin pillow when sleeping.
  • You must provide adequate rest to the neck. Use a cervical collar.
  • Hot fomentation affords great relief.
  • Traction comes handy to combat stiffness.
  • Acupressure and reflexology is another alternative therapy through which you can derive ample and long-term benefits.
