- Local therapy including heat and rubefacients: external application of heat by hot water bags and fomentation is well known. However when heat is to be delivered to deeper joints like hip and spine, short wave diathermy is useful.
- Oil massage on the affected part helps to relieve pain and swelling.
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder in milk is useful to decrease the swelling and acute pain in the joints.
- Massage warm vinegar on the affected joint to give pain relief.
- Carrot juice helps to strengthen the ligaments.
