Benefits Of Apple For Cancer Prevention

In a large scale study conducted on over 10,000 individuals, it was observed that apple eaters were at 50% lower risk of developing lung cancer compared to their counterparts. This ability of apple was attributed to high levels of flavoniods, naringin and quercetin in apples.

In another study conducted on rats at the Cornell University, it was observed that the rate of consumption of apple was directly linked with reduced risk. Among rats consuming three apples a day, the risk of cancer was lowered by 39%, while in rats consuming six apples a day, the risk of breast cancer was lowered by 44%.

Other similar studies have indicated the protective action of apple on other cancers like colon and liver cancer. In addition, apple pectin contains galacturonic acid which in turn reduces insulin requirement of the body and helps control diabetes.
