Acupressure Therapy for Back Pain
- Acupressure for back pain therapy is known among the Chinese as an alternative medicine for so many centuries now. It is commonly associated with acupuncture and shiatsu, an Oriental medicine that has been developed during the evolution of Taoism in 600 BC.
- The Chinese have great belief in the natural healing process because of the human body’s direct connection to nature and energy shifting where the transfer can lead to some pain relief. Acupressure though is not designed to replace the existing medical procedures; it is just one form of natural remedy or option that can be considered by any individual.
Acupressure Therapist
- Human lives can be dependent on the daily changes and impact of nature. They can be affected emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically; and with acupressure therapy, the balance can be corrected and would eventually create a harmonious relationship in the body.
- Not anyone can do acupressure for pain relief, only a skilled practitioner who has been trained to do the therapy is given the responsibility to do so. Pressure is applied to specific body points like the leg and the back with the use of the thumbs and finger and in some cases the elbows. The most common conditions that can be benefited by this method are headache, tension, stress, anxiety, and leg and back pain.
Acupressure for Neck Pain
Using acupressure for back pain, specifically the neck can give instant relief and ease to the whole body. Acupressure therapy is an amazing kind of healing process. When the neck is affected, it does not mean that pressure will be applied in the neck area itself since there are acupressure points located away from it that can be worked on to lessen its tension. When pressure is applied to these points, it stimulates the muscles and organs giving relief to the existing pain.
Acupressure Therapy for Leg Pain
Easing the pain in the leg can also be attained with the unique alternative procedure like acupressure therapy. It is just important to find the right point to put pressure on in order to be totally relieved, like:
- The depression between the thumb and the index finger.
- Under the pinky finger where it is most gentle.
Massaging either of the points for three minutes or until relief is attained with the use of tip of the finger, the knuckle, or even the eraser portion of a pencil can help ease the leg pain.

I’ve been receiving treatment and neck pain therapy at residence. Treatment comprises of using strengthening machines and a decompression procedure. My question is how can I combine the use of acupressure within my current treatment, as I feel that I need a little more intensive treatments and friends tell me that the use of acupressure massage therapy is extremely effective on relieving sciatica.
What is your age? Is it more than 40 years?
There are many causes of leg pain other than trauma. Pain in the legs can occur because of bones, muscles, ligaments, nerves, tendons, and blood vessels.
Pain is due to the inflammation of this individual tissue or group of tissues.
Knee joint pain in adults above 40years of age is most common in osteo arthritis. It is a condition where the space between the knee joint bone is decreased, resulting in friction of the bone and pain in the knees.
Physiotherapy of the knee joints, if done regularly will give good relief to the painful knee.
Other alternative therapy is of acupressure; the theory of acupressure is that it helps the body’s energy to run smoothly. According to its theory there are pressure points for each organ, they are located on the foot of the leg. When the pressure points are pressed with the tip of the finger, it warms up the blood flow, and relaxes the muscles, and releases the pain relieving endorphins. It is done by a trained therapist.
Warm water fomentation at the affected site is also helpful to decrease the pain.
